Since forming in 2008 the band has been taking the UK Funk scene by storm, building its loyal fan base and sweeping reviewers off their feet in a blitz of energy, showmanship and ferocious musical talent. In 2013 they were nominated for “Best Live UK Show Of The Year” at the UK’s “Jazz FM” Awards. Last year the band released their ﬁrst album “Stand Up” in Japan, to rave reviews. This Spring an expanded version of “Stand Up” will be released in Europe, digitally, on CD and on vinyl!
The band is led by star drummer Pete Ray Biggin, the band’s MD and predominant songwriter – a drummer of cult status as a member of the drummerworld.com elite, and a regular performer with bands including Level 42, Incognito, Amy Winehouse, Chaka Khan, Lalah Hathaway and Mark Ronson.
PBUG’s musicians are a who’s who of the hottest session players on the London scene. The band also features some of London’s greatest singers, including Teni Abosede (Adele), Chenai Zinyuku (Chemical Brothers), Moni Tivony (Voice), Dan Pearce a.k.a. DTale (Sigma, Dizzee Rascal), Alex Buchanan (Thriller Live), Tony Momrelle (Incognito), Brendan Reilly (Disclosure) and the rappers MOD and Chima.
The band has toured worldwide and sold out shows at iconic London venues including Ronnie Scott’s, Under The Bridge and Jazz Café. Whilst headling at many intentional acclaimed festivals such as at the Le defense Jazz Festival, Enghien Jazz Festival, and Gronignen Jazz Festivals.
